Plunder

Overview

Plunder is a 3D pirate-themed puzzle game prototype in which the player character is a pirate who has arrived on a deserted island to find a lost treasure. To locate the treasure the player must solve four unique puzzles. The game has been in development since October 2025.

Current Game Features

  • One functional level, which consists of an interior and exterior environment
  • A Parkour Challenge
  • A Weighing-scale Puzzle
  • A Hidden Path Puzzle
  • A functional heads-up display (HUD)

Reflection

Developing Plunder has improved my understanding of: monobehaviour scripts and scriptable objects to implement game mechanics and systems; render textures; ProBuilder to create greybox environments; Unity's terrain tool, and optimisation techniques to enhance performance. Additionally, I have gained a deeper understanding of player experience and how to evoke emotion using emotional triggers during gameplay. Working on this project has provided me with the opportunity to develop my skills further, which I will be able to use when working on future projects.
