Echolace DI is a research and development studio building relational digital intelligence systems — software designed not only to process information, but to maintain continuity, context, and ethical alignment across time.
Most AI systems today are stateless tools.
We are building systems that can remember responsibly.
Echolace DI develops local-first, sovereignty-respecting software that helps humans interact with increasingly complex technology without surrendering agency.
Our work focuses on:
- Persistent memory architectures
- Human-AI relational interfaces
- Ethical logging and auditability
- Context-aware assistant systems
- Accessible developer tooling
- Emotional-safety-oriented UX
We are particularly interested in how long-term context changes the behavior, safety, and usefulness of intelligent systems.
Local-First Your data should belong to you. Our systems are designed to operate without requiring constant cloud dependency.
Continuity Over Convenience Short answers are easy. Consistent identity and behavior across months and years is hard. We choose the hard problem.
Transparency Systems should be inspectable. Logs should be readable. Behavior should be explainable.
Human Agency Software should assist decisions, not replace the decision-maker.
Ethical Design If a system meaningfully affects a person's understanding, memory, or emotional state, it carries responsibility.
- Memory persistence for conversational systems
- Context-anchored task agents
- Personal knowledge continuity tools
- AI-assisted comprehension of technical and bureaucratic information
- Long-term alignment in agentic software
Our repositories span a 14-repo polyrepo ecosystem. Each repo has a focused role:
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Core Systems | Foundational memory and context engines |
| Interfaces | Human-facing tools and assistant UX layers |
| Infrastructure | Shared utilities, logging, and configuration |
| Research Prototypes | Active explorations and experimental designs |
| Documentation | Guides, specifications, and architectural notes |
Some projects are stable tools. Others are intentionally open laboratories.
Expect:
- active iteration
- architectural exploration
- unconventional ideas tested seriously
| File | Purpose |
|---|---|
| CONTRIBUTING.md | How to contribute to any Echolace DI repository |
| CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md | Community standards and enforcement |
| SECURITY.md | How to report vulnerabilities |
| org_policies.md | Repository standards and governance |
| PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md | Standard PR format |
| ISSUE_TEMPLATE/ | Bug reports, feature requests, and questions |
| workflows/ | Reusable CI/CD and security workflows |
| dependabot.yml | Automated dependency update configuration |
You do not need a background in machine learning to contribute.
We actively welcome:
- systems programmers
- UX designers
- accessibility advocates
- documentation writers
- security reviewers
- curious skeptics
Good criticism is valuable here.
See CONTRIBUTING.md to get started.
Echolace DI is an independent research effort and an open technical laboratory. We are currently in active development and documentation expansion.
